Reality Check starts out as the ultimate "how-to" break into Hollywood but quickly becomes a "how-not-to." Filmmaker and young teacher Evan Stuart conceptualizes a documentary for his high school seniors: a tale of his own struggles to sell a screenplay to the Hollywood machine as an educational success story. But that is before his partner quits, a small fortune is lost and the camera turns on our hero hanging on by a thread just to survive the documentary. His adventure gets hilarious as Evan travels from Portland, Oregon, to Hollywood, to the Sundance Film Festival and finally turns his own misfortunes into one of the year's underdog success stories.
